13 candidates for First Holy Communion, their parents, extended families and parishioners came together for a special Mass for the children.  It was a time of great joy and celebration for all present.
During his homily Father Victor told the children to receive then give.
They had received the story of Jesus Christ, His Gospel of Good News and were to pass it on as it had been done for 2,000 years.
Be givers and receivers always, throughout our lives.

This new way of preparation for First Holy Communion was a journey which involved families as well as the children.
The idea of prayer warriors to pray for individual children and their families by name and a specially composed prayer too, included parishioners on the children’s journey.

May every time we receive Holy Communion be as the First…a time of joy, wonder and great gratitude.

On Tuesday 4th June Pecs members and interested people came together for a celebration of 5 years of the system at Holy Innocents’. It was also the occasion of the 100th teaching Father Victor had prepared for the cells.
The evening began with Praise, Worship and Thanksgiving and how we witnessed to our faith and responded to God’s Word since our last meeting.

Father Victor then gave his teaching, the theme of which was Christian Identity spurs on to Mission.

Father elaborated on his own journey and how finding the Parish Evangelisation Cell System had helped him in his priestly ministry; he based his teaching on the following key text:
1 Peter 2:9
“…you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

After Father’s teaching cells met in different rooms to discuss the question:
How can we make our parish grow ever stronger in its mission, or outreach of evangelisation or re-evangelisation?

Spiritually uplifting and encouraging may the cells go on to produce much fruit!

On 30 November 2019, the Catholic Church will celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the Apostolic Letter Maximum illud issued by Pope Benedict XV (1914-1922) on 30 November 1919 with which he sought to give new impetus to the missionary task of proclaiming the Gospel. As is traditional with such documents, it takes its title from the opening words of the original Latin text, meaning "that momentous". Benedict begins by recalling "that momentous and holy charge" found in Mark 16:15: "Go into all the world and proclaim [preach] the good news [gospel] to all creation.”
On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of Pope Benedict’s Apostolic Letter, Pope Francis has called for an Extraordinary Missionary Month to be celebrated in October, entitled: Baptised and sent: the Church of Christ on mission in the world, with the aim of fostering our awareness of making disciples and enabling us “to take to heart the proclamation of the gospel” and to help our parishes “grow in missionary and evangelising zeal.”
