Remembrance Sunday
11th Hour of 11th Day of 11th month
11th November 2018

In commemoration of this Anniversary Churches Together in Orpington (CTiO)
is asking for red poppies only to be knitted or crocheted.  These will be distributed along areas of the Methodist Church...chosen because of its high profile geographical situation in Sevenoaks road.     The name of a fallen person will be attached to each poppy.  Some of you may have seen some attached to the railings in Spur road.

Poppy Patterns
There are two different knitted poppy patterns and two crochet patterns.
Please feel free to use other patterns – as long as the poppy is a similar size to these (approximately 6-10cm diameter).

Flavours of Orpington Churches Together BBQ Sunday 9th September 2018

11/9/2018

Sunday 9th September saw the “Flavours of Orpington Event” which was sponsored by Churches Together and Orpington First and held in the Walnuts Square from 12 noon to 3pm.
There were fun and games and face painting for the children, a Gospel band and choir and lively music added to the camaraderie of the occasion.

Along with other members of Churches Together in Orpington, myself and Roni Brand from Holy Innocents' assisted in manning the BBQ stall.
It was a packed event and a lovely time for "Feeding Jesus' lambs and sheep."
At this BBQ we gave away approximately 600 rolls, burghers and sausages, many drinks including tea and coffee for a full 3 hours.  All the food and drinks were donated by the Churches and given out freely to all those who queued up.    The first 300 rolls were donated by Holy Innocents. But further supplies had to be sought to feed the queues!

When collecting the Holy Innocents' order in the morning we told the baker that they were for Churches Together in Orpington and invited her to attend.     We had a few strange looks from other customers as our trolley was piled high with nothing but rolls!
Bob and I prayed over the rolls that those who ate them would be blessed and think about Jesus and His message.
Father Victor and many others from Holy Innocents' came to enjoy the festivities and it was a great time.
The weather stayed clement which helped!   Some members of Churches Together went amongst the crowd to speak about Jesus and His message.
